It’s just a few days since the NFC Championship game on Sunday and the only thing anyone is talking about is Richard Sherman. Was it just a time of high emotion and a bad choice? If you haven’t seen the rant heard around the world, Google it and dozens of sites are there to show you. He is screaming about how he is the best and how Michael Crabtree isn’t any good. It’s not the first time he has publicly attacked Crabtree or other players around the NFL, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It may be Sherman’s opinion that Crabtree isn’t any good. However, he is on an NFL team that made it to the playoffs and came very close to beating his team.

This rant has only made it difficult for Sherman or the Seahawks to look good at all. Football fans are running in droves to route for Peyton Manning and the Bronco’s and no one is talking about the rest of the Seahawks team. Both teams in general played a good game which only separated the score by five points and mistakes were made on both sides. Isn’t football a team sport? In addition, the points put on the board by Seattle, were from the offence of their team. The interception at the end of the end didn’t score any points, it did stop the loss, but didn’t score the win.

The other thing people don’t seem to remember in watching the game is that Crabtree didn’t just suddenly walk up and grab Sherman’s facemask; Sherman sought Crabtree out and smack him on the butt. Crabtree had walked away and was nowhere near Sherman, when Sherman found him, a penalty followed. This tends to say Sherman didn’t care that Seattle won as a team, but he was more interested in being a better player than Crabtree. Sherman also made the chocking sign to the 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick during the game along with getting into Crabtree’s face at the end of the game.

Terrell Owens stated on Fox News that Sherman just had a classless moment, but he’s really a good guy. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just one moment; it was many moments, over time. What he did accomplish is adding brand new fans to Denver’s followers who will be routing against the Seattle Seahawks. With many times Sherman has been classless, and it begs to wonder can he control himself before and during the game?

The Super Bowl will go on February 2nd without a hitch, but will people watch to see the Seattle Seahawks playing the Denver Broncos or will all eyes and ears be waiting to see what Richard Sherman will do and say next?
