On Thursday afternoon, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) began a two-day crime suppression sweep targeting drop house activity, drug distribution and human smugglers.
While conducting surveillance operations to gain intelligence, prior to the sweep, deputies arrested 56 illegal aliens, including one who has been deported a staggering 17 times.
By nightfall, the 200-member posse had taken 13 suspected human smugglers into custody and seized 400 pounds of marijuana.
This is the 18th immigration sweep conducted by the MCSO under the leadership of Sheriff Arpaio, and marks the first time his special Illegal Immigration Posse has been deployed.
Maricopa County reportedly has the largest number of volunteer officers of any jurisdiction in the country, with 3,000 members.
There are currently 1,500 illegal aliens in the Maricopa County Jail, making up about 20 percent of the county’s entire inmate population. According to Sheriff Arpaio, 100 of them are in jail on murder charges. A great many more are there on kidnapping and assault charges.
Under Arpaio, his department has either identified in jail, or arrested on the street more than 30,000 illegal aliens in and around Phoenix, nearly 2,000 of them on felony human smuggling charges.
Because of his vigilance on behalf of the people of Maricopa County, Arpaio is now serving his fifth term as sheriff.

God bless Sheriff Joe! It's a damn shame that our federal government won't SECURE OUR BORDERS. I am praying for the Sheriff's Office of Maricopa County, AZ and all of the other counties battling with this problem.
Pull our troops out of godforsaken Afghanistan and bring them home to the US Border where they are needed. Why are we so intent on guarding borders on the other side of the world, when our own border is so porous and there is a real war going on there not one that is one sided like the Afghanistan one, leave and they won't come after us, leave the mexico/american border and all hell will break loose.
Ed Harris - you're entirely correct. I've phoned, faxed and emailed my reps for years on this very subject, but all I get in return is a form letter which does not answer my questions. They only tell me how much the recipient has done toward stopping illegal immigration, which, as it turns out, is nothing because our borders are still open, Americans are being murdered and thousands of illegal aliens are flooding into our country. Now we find a book evidently lost by some Muslim terrorist in Arizona!
Any federal, state, or local policy or procedure that permits an illegal alien to be arrested a second time, never mind 17, that policy is a danger to the lives of American citizens. Any politican who advocates such policy should be impeached for malfeasance and imprisoned for treason. Sheriff Joe should be the Secrertary for Homeland Security. It seems that he is the only public servant who has a plan to accomplish national security.

I just posted a piece on liberal idiot Sheriff Pelle in Boulder, CO, one of the country's worst Sanctuary Cities in the nation. Unlike Sheriff Joe, he refuses to enforce the law. So does Colorado Sheriff Don Christensen. Colorado is a joke. I was visiting friends there back in November and they say that Boulder is the laughing stock of the state. I can believe it, the "San Francisco of Colorado".
Thank God for men of honor like Sheriff Joe who actually believes in the oath he swore to uphold our laws. Unfortunately we have way too many government officials and politicians who believe in political correctness over rule of law. Lately I'm hearing a lot of the PC chatter from Jeb Bush and Newt Gingrich. These rotten scoundrels are the scum that have us in a world of hurt today. We wouldn't have Obama in office if it weren't for the incompetence of GW Bush and his crew. I will never vote for these types of Republicans again. I want rule of law and these ILLEGAL invaders out of my country! Enforce our laws against ILLEGALS before we don't have a country left!
