The Sheriff of Milwaukee County is being honest with his constituents regarding their rights under the law to self protection using a firearm. Sheriff David A. Clark, Jr. has told his constituents in the most direct terms possible what to do in case of an attack by a criminal. Budget cuts have caused his department to lay off and furlough some of his Sheriff’s deputies.
Sheriff Clark made a public service announcment (psa) to tell people in his jurisdiction that with budget cuts, people had to depend less on law enforcement and more upon themselves.
Sheriff Clark’s full PSA statement:
“I’m Sheriff David Clark and I want to talk to you about something personal, your safety. It is no longer a spectator sport. I need you in the game, but are you ready? With officers laid off and furloughed simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer an option. You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back; but are you prepared? Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?”
How does Sheriff Clark’s PSA mesh with what we are being told by our President, Senator Feinstein and the other gun control acolytes? According the President and the rest of the gun control supporters that these gun and magazine bans will save lives and protect children. How is that supposed to happen when law enforcement all over the country is downsizing, because of a recession the liberals in power have only made worse?
The reality is, government cannot protect you. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family.
Sheriff Clark has stated what the Framers intended with the Second Amendment: “. . . You have a duty to protect yourself and your family . . . ” with a firearm.
Government cannot protect you. You have that obligation, not government.
The idea of vigilantism when acting in defense of self and family using a firearm is simply inane and illogical. As inane and illogical as the “duty” to retreat when confronted by a criminal.
Liberals demand that the law abiding abdicate their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in favor of a criminal whose intent is to do you and yours harm. You must run, suffer death, rape, assault, all so that the criminal will be protected from harm at all costs. That is the liberal mindset.
