Shemar Moore is making many fans of a CBS daytime drama happy since the soap opera star is coming back to "The Young and the Restless." Moore currently plays Derek Morgan on the network's "Criminal Minds."

The actor returns to "Y&R" for a brief period reprising his role as Malcolm Winters to make things right with brother, Neil Winters -- and see how things have changed in Genoa City since he unceremoniously left town years ago. MSN reports July 23 that the air dates viewers can expect to see Winters on the show is Sept. 10 and 11.

Shemar starred in "Y&R" from 1994 to 2005 before appearing full-time on "Criminal Minds." He's been on the prime time drama since 2005.

According to Soap Opera Network, Moore says in a press release:

"I am excited about returning to 'The Young and the Restless' as a special guest This is where I got my start, and I am looking forward to reuniting with my soap opera family."

Shemar Moore has always had a large fanbase from the soap and his departure from the show was a huge disappointment to viewers. When Shemar comes back as Malcom, the character comes back after learning that his fiancee gave birth to Neil's son, not his. Will they be able to patch things up between them?

Malcolm is also Lily Winter's biological father. Lily's biological mother was Dru Winters, who died years ago after falling off a cliff.

Actor Darius McCrary portrayed Malcolm last. Shemar Moore sounds excited to see his former costars on the set again!
