The 40th Annual People's Choice Awards aired Wednesday evening on CBS where Shemar Moore and Malin Akerman heated up TVs nationwide as they presented the award for “Favorite On-screen Chemistry”.

Each pair of presenters for the People’s Choice Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, performed a prepared skit prior to the list of nominees and subsequent winner announcement. Some succeeded better than others, however it was the undeniable chemistry between Shemar Moore and Malin Akerman that left viewers breathless.

It was hard to believe this was acting when the 43-year-old Shemar Moore made the newly single Malin Akerman from “Trophy Wife” blush. The sexy single actor of “Criminal Minds” asked the 35-year-old actress to twirl before the heated exchange began and then commented, “baby got back.” Moore and Akerman played the “word association game” and it ended with what appeared to be an impromptu and hot TV moment.

Malin Akerman: Bert and Ernie?

Shemar Moore: Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Malin Akerman: Shemar Moore and Malin Akerman?

Shemar Moore: Don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing. Salt and Pepper.

And then the model/actor leaned in closer to Akerman.

Shemar Moore: Ebony and ivory. Once you go black…

Malin Akerman: Is it getting hot in here?

Shemar Moore: This is not a game. I am single and I don’t see any rings on those fingers, I’m just saying.

Malin Akerman separated from her husband in November of 2013. The couple has one son together. Divorce papers were filed in December after six years of marriage.

Malin then uttered "there are rings, just not..." and before she could continue, Shemar Moore continued to play his flirt game.

Shemar Moore: My grandmother was French Canadian; I hear you’re Canadian.

Malin Akerman: Half Swedish/half Canadian…it works.

Shemar Moore finished with “half black/half right” and then led into an admission that the duo went off on a tangent at the People’s Choice Awards.

Are Moore and Akerman destined to be the next big Hollywood couple? Time will tell, but they definitely look good together and their chemistry skit was, in this writer’s opinion, one of the hottest moments from the People’s Choice Awards.
