Today, Shelby American of Las Vegas Nevada announced that they would be ending production of 427 Super Snake and 40th Anniversary packages for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 models. The two limited edition packages have been available for some time now and in an effort to bolster the collectability of these ultra-high performance GT500 Mustangs availability will cease in December of this year. These two kits are available for 2007-2010 Ford Shelby GT500 models and once they have been discontinued, Shelby American will still offer the “regular” Super Snake, GT350 and Terlingua Racing packages for Detroit’s best selling performance car.
The 427 Super Snake package was originally offered to commemorate Shelby’s sponsorship of the Las Vegas NASCAR race and the package begins with all of the standard features of the GT500 Super Snake. On top of the standard high performance features of the Super Snake, the 427 Super Snake adds adjustable caster/camber plates, unique “427” race inspired Shelby badges, a strut tower brace (605hp version only), supercharger badge (750hp version only), 427 Super Snake specific trunk mat and floor mats, special seat inserts and a certificate of authenticity. Finally, the 427 Super Snake GT500 receives Mr. Carroll Shelby’s signature on the sun visor and this package is only available for installation at the Las Vegas Shelby facility (most likely because Mr. Shelby cannot travel around the country, signing sun visors).
The 40th Anniversary package for the Shelby GT500 was offered to commemorate the return of the legendary GT500 to the Mustang lineup in 2007. This package can be installed at any certified Shelby installer or from Shelby American themselves and it offers a huge spread of additions to help the 40th Anniversary models stand out from the standard Mustang GT500. In addition to the standard features included on the 2007-2010 Shelby GT500 models, the 40th Anniversary package adds:
• Shelby/Eibach coil over suspension and sway bar kit
• 20′ Shelby American Racing Razor wheels in special black with Shelby center caps
• 255/30/20 front tires and 285/30/20 rear tires
• 40th Anniversary badges
• Carbon fiber front splitter and mirror covers
• Aluminum hood grill inserts
• Deck lid SHELBY letter kit
• Sequential tail lights
• Convertible Shelby Signature stripe kit (the hardtop already is striped) and light bar
• Front and rear brake duct kit
• 40th Anniversary markings on rear of car
• Serialized number plate for the dash with Carroll Shelby’s Signature
• Number plate in the engine compartment and on the 40th Anniversary door sill plate
• Shelby interior door handles with Snake logo
• Shelby floor mats
• Engine dress up kit – billet fluid caps and oil stick
• Center gauge kit (Boost, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure)
• Arm Rest cover with Snake Logo
• Aluminum Shelby map light accent and satin door lock knobs
• Borla cat back exhaust
