As the NY Love Examiner, I generally write about different forms of love (however loosely). This week I released my fifth book in my legacy project, a children's book called Shekhina. Shekhina is the Jewish Feminine Divine and embodies unconditional love and compassion. Rather than just announce my book and where to buy it, I thought we could discuss how her qualities are relevant in our lives.
As the Divine Mother, Shekhina has all she needs so she is able to give freely, without expectation of return. When we fill ourselves with her energy, our cup overflows with peace and love. Many of our problems in relationships occur when we feel that someone is not loving us the way we'd like them to and we'd like to change them. When we feel badly for ourselves, it's hard to keep loving them and to feel compassion for their woundedness. We have the choice to release our demands on them to love us in a certain way and to realize that they are just projecting their anxiety (or some other unconscious emotion) onto us.
Shekhina teaches us to see the Divine in everything and to raise our consciousness from the physical level to the spiritual one. She helps us to see the lessons necessary for our soul's growth.
Of course I am speaking about her to adults here (and I communicated her energy in a much simplified way for kids) yet we can all benefit from her energy and love.
