According to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, the "number one agenda" of the newly-formed Congressional Full Employment Caucus should be to "draft" a number of executive orders for Barack Obama to sign, CNS News reported Tuesday.

“We will be answering the call of all of America because people need work and we’re not doing right by them by creating work,” she said. “I believe this caucus will put us on the right path and we’ll give President Obama a number of executive orders that he can sign with pride and strength.”

“In fact, I think that should be our number one agenda," she added. "Let’s write up these executive orders, draft them of course - and ask the president to stand with us on full employment.”

The Congressional Full Employment Caucus, consisting of liberal Democrats, was formed last week by Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich. to "end the unacceptably high rate of unemployment and underemployment in the United States" and work toward full employment.

“The Congressional Full Employment Caucus will serve as a platform and working group for Members dedicated to identifying solutions to our current unemployment crisis and advocating for legislative action," Conyers' website said.

"Ultimately, the goal of the Caucus is to realize the dream of a society in which every American who wants to work has the right to some form of employment," Conyers added.

But executive orders do not require congressional action, unlike legislation.

Last week, Obama said he was willing to use executive orders to bypass Congress whenever and wherever he felt it was necessary.

In addition to Convers and Lee, the newly-formed caucus includes Reps. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., Maxine Waters, D-Calif., Barbara Lee, D-Calif., José Serrano, D-N.Y., and Mike Quigley, D-Ill.
