A certified etiquette instructor will represent Pennsylvania at the Miss USA 2012 pageant in Las Vegas.
Sheena Monnin was crowned Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012 on Sunday in Pittsburgh, according to the pageant website.
If she wins the Miss USA pageant, she will represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2012 pageant.
Monnin earned a bachelor's degree in human services and a master's degree in psychology, according to the pageant, with an ambition to earn a doctorate in theology.
"She has earned the second highest degree of public speaking in Toastmasters International," according pageant officials. "Sheena describes herself as persistent, focused and compassionate."
"Her skills as a writer were put to use when she founded an extensive program, The Essence of Etiquette, encompassing communication and public speaking skills, as well as social and dining etiquette," according to Monnin's official website.
She has also worked as a model.
- Finishing in the top five, according to pageant officials, were:
- First Runner-up Valerie Compeggie of Pittsburgh;
- Second Runner-up Elliot Griffin of Philadelphia;
- Third Runner-up Shauna Rice of Pittsburgh; and
- Fourth Runner-up Kelly Cundiff of Cranberry Township.
Rounding out the list of semifinalists were:
- Kristin Rose Garofalo of Bensalem;
- Tammie Kennedy of Enoia;
- Emily Farah of Greensburg;
- Pamela Weisman of Newtown Square;
- Laura DiFrancesco of West Grove;
- Marlee Fritz of Freeport;
- Chelsey McGinnis of Holidaysburg;
- Nora Downs of Philadelphia;
- Ashley Piccione of Easton; and
- Celeste DiGregorio of Newtown Square.
Chelsey McGinnis was voted Miss Congeniality and Valerie Compeggie is Miss Photogenic.
