According to a May 10 report from What Culture, hard-hitting Irish WWE superstar Sheamus will be making a heel turn by joining Evolution sometime in the weeks ahead, perhaps even during tonight's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw in Greenville, S.C. The Evolution super-group currently features Randy Orton, Batista and Triple H. They could certainly use a fourth member because they used to have Ric Flair in the group.
Since Flair is basically retired from active competition, the time is right to introduce a new member into Evolution. Does it make sense to put Sheamus in there? Absolutely. While Sheamus isn't a legend on the level of Triple H, Batista and Orton, he's still a perennial title contender and fan favorite. Sheamus has been adored by WWE Universe for close to a decade, so the time is now to push him over the top with fans.
Pairing him with the likes of Batista, Orton and Triple H would do the trick to elevate his status in the WWE realm. Sheamus recently won the WWE's United States Championship, but WWE Universe met his win with a collective shrug. No one seemed to care. Since not much has been going on with Sheamus' character, the WWE obviously felt that needed to make an adjustment. The quick-fix solution appears to be turning him heel.
It will be interesting to see how Sheamus' heel turn goes over with the fans, as he's long been one of the most adored characters in the WWE. Getting fans to turn on him won't be easy, so WWE Universe will be keeping a close eye to see how exactly they plan to turn him into a bad guy. With WWE Payback coming up, Sheamus' heel turn could very well play into a storyline in that special event.
The Shield is still feuding with Evolution, so it seems likely the WWE will script Sheamus to attack the "Hounds of Justice" in order to turn him heel. Is the WWE making the right decision by turning Sheamus heel? Time will tell how the situation pans out. No one knows for sure until it actually happens.
