This article introduces you to a remarkable person, Darcy Keith. At the age of 22 and during her senior year of college, she was the only survivor of a fatal car crash, one that killed 4 of her close sorority sisters.
She shared her thoughts about surviving, "I believe it is the obligation of the cured to help others. We can choose to be the victims of our circumstances, or to decide to accept, grow and learn from our hardships. I chose not to be a victim, and this has made all the difference for me. I hope that it can help others to overcome their challenges in life as well."
Darcy continued, ”How would you feel as a college senior to wake up from a coma and find yourself in the hospital with memory loss of your entire college major, brain injury, and paralysis to half of your body? Gone was everything that I had worked for in my life – mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. What was I to do with the rest of my life?
With the right mindset and despite memory issues, I went back to college, enrolled in a new major, and graduated a short year and a half later. The doctors nicknamed me ‘The Miracle Child’ for the amazing recovery that I experienced. Broken physically, emotionally and mentally, I had to find the strength and the will to be lifted up.”
Today, she is working diligently to help others cope through hardship. Darcy is co-author of Refined by Fire: Discovering Victory Through Adversity and Women Like Us: Real Stories and Strategies for Living Your Best Life.
Her closing words, “I am a Professional Speaker, sharing the secrets of my success to life again and amazing story with others to inspire them that there is hope in overcoming adversity. You can find more information about me and my success story on my website, DarcyKeith.com.”
