A steel town girl can be seen not just on Saturday night in the musical Flashdance, which Broadway Across America will present at the Kentucky Center for the Arts this week.
Flashdance performances will continue on Jan. 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. each night, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m., Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. All performances are to happen in Whitney Hall, located inside the Kentucky Center for the Arts at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.
Tickets for each show are $25-$79 per person, depending on the seat. All tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, the Kentucky Center website, or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777.
Flashdance centers on a girl who, like many people have felt at one time or another, wants to break out of a life she does not want to have. A welder by day, exotic dancer or flashdancer at night, and dreams to attend ballet school are what this steel town girl has.
Expect to have toes tapping, or feet dancing, during Flashdance's famous songs What a Feeling, Maniac, and multiple original songs.
Flashdance was, of course, best known as the 1983 movie starring Jennifer Beals in the iconic role of Alex Owens.
The stage version, meanwhile, features the choreography and direction of Sergio Trujillo, who has also been a part of other shows including Jersey Boys and Memphis.
More information on the show can be found at the Kentucky Center or Broadway Across America websites.
