She & Him – the folk-pop music project by Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward – released their newest single titled “Never Wanted Your Love” on Thursday. The break-up track previews the duo's upcoming “Volume 3” album.
The usually chipper stylings behind She & Him seem to hit overcast weather with Deschanel now singing about breaking up on “Never Wanted Your Love.” Over jubilant strings and pattered beats, she is defiant in her delivery to move on with light yet stinging lyricism. “All I know is that I'm tired of being clever,” she laments.
“Never Wanted Your Love” previews She & Him's forthcoming album, aptly titled “Volume 3.” The two released the record's tracklist featuring covers of Blondie's “Sunday Girl” and Ellie Greenwich's “Baby.” The album will be released on May 7.
Deschanel will also be keeping busy with her FOX television series, “New Girl,” which was recently picked up for a third season.
