Try telling Mrs. She-bear that she needs to give up the means of defending her cubs. Try telling her that she does not have the right to claws and fangs. Tell her that if something tries to attack her cubs, she should just call the game warden. She understands natural law, she understands she does not need to ask permission from anyone to protect her cubs. She understands unalienable rights. Give up her claws? "From my cold, dead paws."
Ask Mr. Pork U. Pine, should he give up his spines? He may just smile and amble off, mumbling, "Molon labe."
The social compact embodied in our Declaration of Independence credits natural, divine unalienable rights as being derived from the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Our fore-bearers, recognizing the right to life, also recognized the necessity of appropriate tools for defense of life. God gave the she-bear teeth and claws; he gave the porcupine quills. He gave man the ability to invent tools appropriate to defense of life. Today, the firearm is the most effective tool to fill that need.
Yet, in modern times, there has been a steady, concerted effort by Statist Utopians to deprive American citizens access to these defensive tools. Their stated, ultimate goal is total disarmament of the American people. They infer that since evil people use weapons in an evil manner, all users of weapons must be evil, and therefore all people must be deprived of weapons (except, of course, for themselves and their bodyguards). Though largely unsuccessful in Tennessee, they have been somewhat effective in carving out so-called gun free zones, banning good guys with guns.
Universal background checks, which amount to universal registration, have been a means toward that end of total disarmament worldwide, including most notably, the disarmament of German Jews in the WW II era, thus enabling the holocaust.
So, what is to be done?
- Buy ammo when you can.
- Plan on that firearm purchase soon.
- Get emergency supplies as recommended by the Red Cross. Add guns and ammo.
- Contact your senators and representative and assure them that you will work diligently to get them unelected if they support any kind of ban or registration scheme.
- If you live in certain repressive jurisdictions, like New York, New Jersey, or Chicago, consider looking for a new home elsewhere.
