Every now and then the truth has a way of escaping the lips of government officials and support personnel even as they feverishly try to hide it. In this case the subject was Obamacare and the accidental truth teller was a healthcare exchange specialist who is working to create the exchanges that are an integral part of the new healthcare law.
"It's really to protect your assets. When you're young, you don't have assets. You don't worry about it."
Whoops. In attempting to make a case for the need for health insurance, Smith instead wound up showing why multimillions of young citizens do not need the coverage.
Perhaps the Obama administration failed to pass along to everyone the word that the new healthcare law is predicated on the assumption that healthcare exchanges will convince citizens, particularly the young, that they must purchase health insurance or else great calamity will befall them. Or perhaps Ms. Smith, in attempting to make such a point, let slip an obvious truth that belies the snake oil Obama and his cohorts in Congress have managed to foist on the public.
The key to the success of Obamacare will be the younger people the government can cajole and browbeat into signing up for a policy (or pay a fine through the IRS). That way the government gets their money while spending very little on their healthcare, given that younger people have fewer health problems.
But the exchange specialist in New York accidentally blew the whistle on the entire sham of Obamacare when she inadvertently let slip that younger people do not need health insurance.
As Karl Denninger says, if a younger person should happen to need an expensive procedure or treatment, they can always declare bankruptcy since they have no assets anyway. The same goes for older people in the same boat. Older citizens who have no accumulated assets can file for bankruptcy if they need an expensive course of treatment.
Thus, Obamacare is based on a lie. The government is attempting to sell the citizens something that most do not need. And it is killing the American economy.
According to Denninger,
The truth of the matter is that the entire medical establishment has become a cancer on the American economy and is consuming its host, resulting in an economic wasting disease that is emaciating everyone -- and everything -- in the American economy.
This cancer must be excised and destroyed or our economy will die.
This, therefore, is simply another of the one thousand and one reasons that Obamacare is a terrible idea that in time will destroy this nation.
