Signs of a DC Cinematic Universe are looking up today. While DC Comics have been a part of the big screen for many years, the comics universe has only seen movie successes with the likes of Batman and Superman. However, thanks to the work of Marvel Studios, DC is ready to bring new characters to the silver screen. A month ago, a rumor circled the web that DC was planning several movies that would feature a variety of superheroes. Why it look to be just a rumor, there may be some truth after today thanks to the comment from none other then Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

For sometime now, the pro-wrestler turned actor has been considered to be in a superhero film, but the details have always been sketchy. However, recently, Dwayne Johnson was indeed slated to play a character in the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe. But who? It has been up for debate, however in an interview with Total Film, The Rock teased which character he is playing and the hint will may be obvious for comic fans.

"I will say this. There's a character out there that we're going to announce very soon that I'm going to play, and I'll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That's all I'm going to say."

There are few characters who have abilities similar to the Man of Steel, but the one that definitely comes to mind is Shazam, aka Captain Marvel. Shazam is actually a young boy named Billy Baston who, thanks to the magic of The Wizard, can transform into the godly champion by shouting "Shazam Interesting enough, Dwayne Johnson was slated to be in a Shazam film many years ago, but he was rumored to play the antagonist Black Adam.

While it is still under speculation, if Dwayne Johnson is starring in a Shazam film, then that means the rumor of DC releasing several films may in fact be true. To make things more interesting, The Rock states that the announcement of his involvement in this Cinematic Universe will be coming soon; which could mean that Warner Bros may confirm these speculated films this week at Comic-Con. The only way to know for sure is staying tune for more details on this story.
