Shayanna Jenkins was in court on Oct. 15 for a perjury charge to which she pleaded "not guilty." Jenkins, the fiancee of former Patriots player Aaron Hernandez, stood before a grand jury and lied according to prosecutors. According to FOX Sports, Jenkins admitted to throwing away a box -- said box is believed to have contained the murder weapon used to kill Odin Lloyd.
"She was asked what she did to the item that Mr. Hernandez instructed her to get rid of; she repeatedly told the grand jury that she couldn’t remember, she didn’t know, she’d thrown it in a dumpster, and she couldn’t tell anybody where it was," Assistant District Attorney Patrick Bomberg said.
Shayanna Jenkins' attorney says that the "indictment is overreaching." She feels that her client is telling the truth and that Jenkins simply "doesn't remember" where she tossed the box that Aaron allegedly told her to get rid of. Since the murder weapon in the case has not been found, there is plenty of reason to believe that Jenkins was the one to discard it... and if no one saw her do it, "I don't remember" might stand strong in this case.
Several reports surfaced yesterday claiming that Shayanna and Aaron had a "don't ask, don't tell" kind of relationship. She didn't question his whereabouts or his actions and he didn't tell her much. If he handed her a package or a box and told her to dump it, she did so without asking any questions. And immediately forgetting what she ended up doing with it. Super convenient, right?
Shayanna Jenkins will be back in court on Nov. 6.
