Shayanna Jenkins was not arrested on Friday, Sept. 27, contrary to popular belief. However, the fiance of former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez was served papers on a perjury charge yesterday in connection to the murder of Odin Lloyd (whom Hernandez has been accused of murdering). According to Mail Online, Jenkins will soon appear in court to face the one count against her.
Jenkins' indictment suggests that she lied to authorities when questioned about Lloyd and/or about her boyfriend's involvement in his death. Lloyd had been dating Jenkins' sister and many believe that she knows exactly what went down the night that he was shot and killed.
Shayanna Jenkins could be the missing puzzle piece that the DA needs to convince a jury that Hernandez is guilty. Many believe that she may have been involved in some way or that she knows something more about the case (like, perhaps, where the murder weapon is). The perjury charge against her does suggest that she may have lied to authorities but it's unclear what she might have lied about. However, if she wasn't telling the truth, that would mean that she knows the truth -- and it's possible that she might spill the beans on her beau, especially if it means clearing her name.
Jenkins was at Hernandez's home in North Attleboro, Mass. yesterday for the first time in weeks. The house has been dark and quiet since police left it several weeks ago. Neighbors in the area say that the landscapers still come to keep the house looking nice but that they haven't seen any one go in or come out in weeks. It is believed that Shayanna is staying with family (and the couple's baby daughter) during this trying time.
Shayanna Jenkins is due in court over the next couple of weeks. More charges aren't expected unless a direct correlation between Jenkins and Lloyd's murder is made. Do you think she had any involvement or knowledge?
