Tonight at the Cendera Center in Fort Worth, Texas, Paulie Ayala Promotions, with matchmaker Shawn Ayala, look to help improve the record of top Texas prospect Ray Ximenez (9-0, 3 KO’s) when putting him in with Denver’s Shawn ‘Bones’ Nichol (7-12, 5 KO’s) in a undercard 6-round Super bantamweight bout.
Paulie Ayala, the former Texas professional standout, had a stellar professional career (35-3, 12 KO’s) and remains a popular figure in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, his battles with Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Johnny Tapia legendary.
Taking on the Dallas, Texas, born 20 years-old Ximenez will be no easy task for southpaw and 24 years-old Nichol, who has grown accustomed to ‘entering the lion’s den’ during his professional career while deservedly earning the reputation of being ‘a tough out’ willing to travel and fight anyone, anywhere.
Of concern for the Ximenez camp will be in his last outing against southpaw Fredy Pengally (5-2-1,2 KO’s) in Tampa, Florida, Ximenez was dropped in the final round of their 8-round bout (still getting the unanimous decision), that seemingly the reason for having this contest being a 6-rounder in more friendly confines with stamina maybe an issue for the young Ximenez.
Look for Shawn ‘Bones’ Nichol to get after the young Ray Ximenez from the opening bell tonight, the fight ending early ending in round 5, Nichol getting the TKO win.
