Shaw sisters lead MDI to victory over Foxcroft

DOVER-FOXCROFT-- Hannah Shaw earned co-player of the year in the Big East class B conference last season.

On Tuesday night, Shaw was filling up the stat sheet in leading the Mount Desert Island (MDI) Trojans girls basketball team to a 68-46 victory over the Foxcroft Ponies.

MDI put the game away with a 17-2 run to start the second half. They never trailed.

Shaw recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, nine steals, and six assists.

Hannah's younger sister Kelsey also had a big night for MDI.

The sophomore recorded 18 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, and two assists.

Sierra Tapley added 10 points (5-6 FG) for the Trojans. Sierra Myrick chipped in with eight points.

Sarah Phelps and Molly Carroll each had seven points and four assists.

Brianna Skolfield scored a game high 22 points for the Ponies. Skolfield also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Brittany Dyer scored 15 points on five 3-pointers.

Mackenzie Coiley recorded eight points, four rebounds, and three steals. Julia Annis pulled down 11 rebounds and had three assists.

MDI shot 30-59 (50.8%) from the field and 3-10 (30.0%) from the free throw line.

MDI (2-0) will host Hermon on Friday.

Foxcroft shot 16-62 (25.8%) from the field and 7-15 (46.6%) from the free throw line.

Foxcroft (1-1) will travel to Dexter on Thursday.
