Shaun White is looking to do big things in 2014. Not only is the snowboarder hoping to repeat as the Olympic halfpipe champion, he’s also looking to win a gold medal in the new Olympic slopestyle event.
White, 26, has twice won gold on the halfpipe. Should he qualify and win gold at the Sochi Olympic Games, he would become the only snowboarder to win three consecutive titles at the Games.
"It's humbling. It's cool. I think it's great," he said. "If I can bring attention to the sport and help it along, it's exciting for me. Going back and doing a third time around in halfpipe would have been fun and exciting but not nearly as exciting as it's going to be to compete in both. It's been humbling for me to not only gain success in the sport but have the sport grow because of it."
The first ever Olympic slopestyle competition will be held in Sochi. White plans to be there, and he might even have a new trick, according to Yahoo.
“I’d just say to expect the unexpected (in Sochi),” White said in an Associated Press interview.
