Shaun McCurry is a modest man with an exceptional talent. He is a major force in the alternative photography scene in Southern New England under the name of SMP Photography. Shaun is also an all around great guy. He has a true love for the art of photography. "I love photography as it gives me another outlet for my creativity much like drawing, painting or writing. It allows me to capture small moments in time, to tell a story without a single written word, to convey the vastness of human emotion and that to me is a wonderful and rewarding experience," Shaun said.

Shaun is a self taught photographer. His interest in photography sparked when he was a child as he played with his father's Nikon F1 35mm camera. He recalls sitting in his basement, reading his father's Time Life books on photography cover to cover. He dreamt of traveling the world as a photojournalist, capturing different people and places for some major publication. Shaun has since changed his aspirations but his love for photography has never changed.

Shaun has been published in numerous magazines such as Retro Lovely, Rebel Rodz, multiple times in Alt Fashion including the cover, and the cover of Tattoo Scout to name a few. Shaun credits his many publications to his partner in crime and favorite calibrator, Miss Mischief. They have the quintessential artist / muse relationship. Shaun speaks very highly on the model: "On any given day she inspires and drives me to achieve excellence in everything and for that I am eternally grateful to her for her countless artistic contributions and her friendship, without either I wouldn't be where I am today."

Shaun isn't a photographer for the recognition, but because he enjoys the art of photography. His goal is to inspire others in the way that he was inspired to become a photographer. He challenges himself to think outside of the box and push himself to be a better photographer everyday.

How small is the talent pool in New England that the same girl has been in so many of your articles?
She's a very popular model in this area. There are many models in Rhode Island and in Southern New England, but Miss Mischief is one of the more popular.
