The true story
The actual story is based on Shari Karney. The real events took place inside a California courtroom in 1983 while she was interrogating a child molester who had been accused of sexually molesting her client's daughter, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Witnesses noticed that Karney began to scream and later attacked the accused child molester.
Karney later discovered through her own repressed memories that she had been molested by her father and brother when she was a small child. The father and brother have always denied the accusations.
Shari Karney is still an incest survivor activist but no longer tries cases.
