Sharon Stone is being sued – again – for cruel and unreasonable treatment of her household staff. Former maid Angelica Castillo has filed a civil suit, seeking unspecified damages. The Los Angeles Times reports the story on Monday, March 11. Another member of Stone’s staff filed a similar suit last year.
It seems that Angelica Castillo injured her back while grocery shopping for Sharon Stone. It happens, but apparently the injury cut her no slack in the actress’ household. The maid was ordered to get back to work, lifting and carrying. To add to the cruelty, other staff members, who might have helped, were not allowed to interfere. Was the maid a slave? Shouldn’t she have been allowed to take a pain pill and put up her feet?
Who knows what was going on in the background, but the lawsuit will drag it all out. The suit alleges Stone repeatedly yelled at Castillo for being slow, calling her “crazy” and “stupid.”
Last May, Sharon Stone was also sued by a live-in housekeeper and nanny. This action seemed to involve a different kind of cruelty: the woman alleges she was not allowed to read her Bible in Sharon Stone’s house – not even in the privacy of her own room, on her own time. She was also ordered not to talk in front of the children (and she was a nanny?) so they would not pick up her Filipino accent.
If these allegations are true, Sharon Stone may need to clean up her attitude. Slavery is out of style.
