Two new stars are in each other’s throats as of this morning. Host of the TV talk show “The Talk,” Sharon Osbourne, has declared war on Mother Monster, Lady Gaga. It all began with Gaga publishing an open letter on her Little Monsters website to Kelly Osbourne, which her mother Sharon didn’t appreciate and unleashed a letter herself on her Facebook page late Thursday, January 10, to Gaga, calling her a bully and hypocrite.
The issue unfolded when Gaga’s fans, Little Monsters, targeted Kelly, sending her crude and threatening messages that upset her mother Sharon – as it would any mother. Sharon attempted to defend her cub by privately messaging Gaga’s manager to ask that Gaga address her followers in a tweet to chill out with the mean comments towards Kelly. This could have all stopped there, but Gaga turned the situation over from bad to worse by publishing an open letter on her website to Kelly, for all to see.
In the letter, Gaga writes, “You [Kelly] work on E! with the ‘Fashion Police’ is rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another. ‘Appearance’ is the most used reason for bullying in the world.”
“It used to make me truly sad when I would hear people talk about your weight when you were younger, as I was bullied too,” Gaga continues. “To see you blossoming into a beautiful slender woman who makes fun of others for a living is astounding.” Sharon’s reaction? Oh, no she did not just go there!
Sharon then took it to her Facebook to write an open letter of her own. In it, the talk show host writes, “Your open letter is hypocritical and full of contradictions. You say her work on E! with the ‘Fashion Police’ is ‘rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another.’ Welcome to the real world.”
“Example, when I saw you wear a dress made out of raw meat, I was sickened,” Sharon continues. “When I see you wearing fur, and using it as a fashion statement, the fact that defenseless animals have been killed so you can get your picture in the press is abhorrent to me. Shouldn’t you be teaching your ‘little monster’ fans to respect animals and life?”
The letter goes on to call the singer a “publicity seeking hypocrite and an attention seeker.”
Sharon’s fury continued, “You know it would have been much more dignified of you to do this privately,” she writes. “I am calling you a bully because you have 32 million followers hanging on your every word and you are criticizing Kelly in you open letter. Are you so desperate that you needed to make this public?”
Sharon concluded with, “Let me know if you want to continue this debate. I’m an open playing field for you my darling.”
