Sharon Osbourne is not likely to retire in 2014, even though the Sunday People (a British tabloid) quoted an unnamed source saying that Osbourne is going to quit entertainment business by the end of 2013 so that she can be retired by 2014. The Sunday People published this story on Sept. 15, 2013. Osbourne has not commented on the story.
Sharon, who is the wife/manager of Ozzy Osbourne, has said in many interviews and in her memoirs that she is a spendaholic and that she needs to keep working to feed her spending addiction. The Osbournes have bought, sold and renovated dozens of houses since their marriage in 1982. Sharon has been Ozzy's manager since 1979.
In the 21st century, Sharon found a new level of fame as a TV star, beginning with the Emmy-winning reality show "The Osbournes" and later as a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. and "America's Got Talent" and co-host of "The Talk."
Sharon (who is 60) was originally a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. from 2004 to 2007. She rejoined the show's judging panel in 2013, as a replacement for fired judge Tulisa Contostavlos. Although Sharon said that 2013 is her last year as an "X Factor" judge, there is no indication that she is going to quit her job at "The Talk" in 2014. She has been co-hosting the show since its 2010 debut.
Ozzy and Sharon have three kids together: Aimee, Kelly and Jack. Jack and his wife, Lisa Stelly, had their first child (a daughter named Pearl) in 2012, the same year he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Sadly, Jack and Lisa lost their second child through a miscarriage in September 2013.
An unnamed source close to Sharon told the Sunday People: “She is ready to retire, give up the showbiz world and lead a quiet life. She is relishing the idea that she will be able to spend all the time in the world with her little granddaughter Pearl. Sharon was devastated about the loss of Jack and Lisa’s baby. She and Ozzy have had a tough year and realize how working in different countries has put a strain on their marriage.”
In April 2013, the media revealed that Ozzy and Sharon were living apart after he relapsed on drugs and alcohol. The couple moved back in together after Ozzy made a public apology in April 2013 for his most recent relapse, which he said lasted from late 2011 to early 2013. Ozzy says he's been clean and sober since March 2013.
Ozzy and Sharon both denied rumors that they were getting divorced.
In an statement on "The Talk," Sharon said she was "devastated" by Ozzy's relapse but that the couple's marriage is back on track and they are happy together.
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourn have both talked about their relationship in interviews and their respective memoirs. The couple began dating while he was still married to his first wife, Thelma, who eventually divorced Ozzy. In their memoirs, Sharon and Ozzy each detailed the ups and downs of their relationship, including violent fights with each other, numerous breakups and Ozzy's arrest in 1989 for trying to strangle Sharon to death. The charges were dropped after Ozzy agreed to go to rehab.
Sharon is reportedly working on her third memoir, whose title and publication date are to be announced.
