Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have added a new 2014 Canadian date to their upcoming Give the People What They Want Tour.

According to an article posted Nov. 30 at WinnipegFreePress.com, the fiery soul/funk singer along with her formidable nine-piece band have expanded their spring run to include a stop in Winnipeg, MB.

Touring in support of their fifth studio album, which is set for release on Jan. 14, the New York based funksters will touch down with their explosive brand of 60s/70s soul/funk revival on April 8 at Winnipeg's Burton Cummings Theatre.

Sponsored by Jazz Winnipeg, tickets for the Winnipeg show go on sale Thursday, Dec. 5 with seats priced at $36.00 (fees not included).

Presales begin Tues., Dec. 3.

The feisty 57-year-old singer had to postpone tour dates and push back the new album release date while recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous bile-duct tumour, but has fully healed and announced tour legs in the U.S., Canada and Europe earlier this month.

Jones was recently featured on the cover of the Village Voice and performed with the Dap-Kings during Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on Nov. 27.
