Sharks’ defenseman Ian White practiced for the first time Monday morning since suffering his head injury on April 14.
Head coach Todd McLellan thought he looked really good and will wait for the diagnosis from the training staff before deciding on his status for Tuesday night’s Game 3 at the Staples Center .
Monday’s practice concentrated on reviving the efficiency of their power play that has become dormant in the first two games of the playoffs.
After having one of the best power play percentages during the regular season (23.5%), the Sharks have not had a power play goal in two games and seven opportunities against the Kings.
“Our power play has to be better,” McLellan would say after practice. Noting that they also addressed better puck handling and execution in key situations during the morning skate.
Kings’ center Jarret Stoll will be in the lineup Tuesday coming off his suspension for the hit on White.
The Sharks took a 2:00pm flight to Los Angeles after the morning’s practice session.
Tomorrow, the NHL will start announcing the Nominees for the ten awards given out for this past season’s achievements for both coaches and players.
Beginning with the Calder Memorial Trophy, which goes to the League’s top rookie, nominees will be announced each day at 9:00 a.m. (PT)
The Sharks’ Logan Couture is a likely candidate as a Calder Trophy nominee.
