San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture is about to tarnish his perfect attendance record to undergo a procedure to repair a hand injury that will keep him out of the game for 3-4 weeks, ESPN reported today.
San Jose Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson has this to say today about the situation:
For the past several weeks, Logan has been dealing and playing with an upper body injury. Despite his efforts to play through it, the injury has not responded as we had hoped and Logan has made the decision to undergo a surgical procedure to repair the problem.
While the timing of the procedure is not idea, Logan feels it is in his and the team's best interest to get the problem rectified now. Logan will undergo surgery on Wed., Jan. 8 and we will have a better update on the recovery time following the procedure.
The 24-year-old was expected to be on Team Canada's roster that was unveiled this morning, but the injury seems to have diminished any hope of Couture going to Sochi.
In 43 games this season, Couture has 14 goals and 21 assists with a +13 rating.
