The San Jose Sharks got goals from forward Freddie Hamilton and defenseman Jason Demers in regulation with Logan Couture scoring at 3:28 into overtime to give the Sharks a 3-2, preseason win over the Phoenix Coyotes Saturday night at the SAP Arena in San Jose.
The Coyotes were called for too many men on the ice allowing Couture the opportunity for the game-winner.
“It was good to get on a power play,” Couture said.
“It’s tough to play in these kinds of games without the regular lines, but Freddie did a good job out there.”
Three games into the preseason, the Sharks are 2-1 with three games left in preseason before their opener, October 3rd against the Vancouver Canucks.
Oliver Ekman-Larson scored the first goal of the game giving the Coyotes a 1-0, first-period lead.
Veteran, 31-year old, Mike Smith started in goal for the Coyotes.
Harri Sateri, trying to make the roster as the Antti Niemi backup, started in goal making all but two saves of 24 shots on goal.
