If you have been anxiously awaiting the sequel to Syfy's awesomely bad TV movie 'Sharknado,' you can breathe a little easier. On Friday it was announced that the follow-up will premiere July 31.

Sharknado 2: The Second One, which centers around a freak weather system, will take place in New York City, the city that just can't seem to catch a break. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, both of whom starred in the original, will appear in the sequel. According to TV Guide, the second installment will feature some other well-known celebs making cameos as well, such as Kelly Osbourne, Vivica A. Fox, Andy Dick, and Perez Hilton, among several others.

The director/writer team of Anthony C. Ferrante and Thunder Levin will return to handle the sequel, which is again being produced by The Asylum (the good people who brought you Snakes on a Train and Mega Shark vs. Cocosaurus). Production is said to currently be underway.

The original Sharknado premiered last July and though it was not the biggest original movie premiere for Syfy, the flurry of social media buzz that surrounded it helped set a record for encore ratings after its third showing (2.1 million viewers).

In August, the sequel got a little crowdsourcing love not long after it was announced when Syfy asked Twitter users to help come up with a name. The channel went through over 5,000 submissions (even passing up some very clever suggestions like Sharknado 2: The Great White Way) before arriving at, simply, The Second One.

The movie is set to air Thursday, July 31 at 9p.m. PT/ET on Syfy.
