'Sharknado' and 'Flowers in the Attic' get sequel returns set

"Sharknado" and "Flowers in the Attic" both have sequels coming to television after popular first TV movie outings, and now both sequels have locked in familiar faces for the cast. On Jan. 31, Ace Showbiz reported that Ian Ziering and Tara Reid would return for "Sharknado 2: The Second One." Both actors appeared in the original film, which was a major hit for SyFy last year.

The sequel will start production in February, and the action will be set in New York City. A massive storm will hit the city, and it will bring the sharks with it. Thomas Vitale, Vice President at SyFy, said the following about the sequel:

'Sharknado' was an extraordinary 'perfect storm' which captured the attention of movie fans across the globe. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing about 'Sharknado'! By reassembling the creative team - and dropping sharks onto New York's iconic sites - we're unleashing yet another 'fin' wave of shark-mania.

As for the "Flowers in the Attic" sequel, work on "Petals on the Wind" was announced before the remake aired on Lifetime. The sequel will take on the second book in the VC Andrews series, and it will be set ten years later. On Jan. 30, The Backlot reported that Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn had been locked in to return for the sequel. The roles of the children will be recast for the sequel due to the jump in time between the first and second films.

An airdate for "Petals on the Wind" has not yet been set for Lifetime, but "Sharknado 2" is set to arrive on SyFy in July. What do you think? Will you be tuning in to see these sequels?
