On Monday, March 18, 2013 Shared Interest (www.sharedinterest.org) will be having its 19th Anniversary Awards Gala. This awards benefit will be held at Gotham Hall, 1356 Broadway, New York, NY. The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with an After Party from 9:30 to midnight.
Now this highly anticipated gala will be honoring award-winning singer, actor and activist Harry Belafonte, South African pop band Freshlyground as well as freedom fighter and social justice activist Father Michael Lapsley. In addition, Shared Interest will be giving its 2013 Corporate Award to JP Morgan, a leading global financial services firm.
Now, Shared Interest (www.sharedinterest.org) is a New York based social investment fund whose mission is to help South African's mobilize their economically disenfranchised communities. This done all in an effort to help these communities sustain themselves and build equitable nations. Now to that end, Shared Interest works through its partner organization, The Thembani International Guarantee Fund. Together they help guarantee South African bank loans to low-income communities (and their own financial institutions) to create affordable housing, businesses, jobs and other important services.
