The Michael Jackson Memorial service has just concluded. There were beautiful tributes from friends, politicians, and family members. Even Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, who has been shielded from the public light spoke. There were so many allegations against Michael Jackson, yet, he was acquitted of them. Do we, in America, continue to convict people after our courts find them not guilty?
To me, the memorial shed light on the person of Michael Jackson. He had become a character; it almost seemed with all of the tabloid speculation and ridicule that Michael Jackson wasn’t human. It seemed he was a character portrayed on television, but not a real person with real feelings. Maybe that is why his death has hit so many in such a tremendous way. Maybe no one ever expected Michael Jackson to die.
Watching the Memorial Service, I realized how much Michael Jackson had accomplished. The thought that he was innocent of all charges, and persecuted in the manner in which he was broke my heart. Why would someone perform so many plastic surgeries on his or her face? Why does anyone repeatedly attempt to change his or her appearance? Did Michael Jackson truly hate himself? A man with so much talent, so much artistic ability, an incredible ability to write songs that make people want to be better, to do better, to achieve more? Could he really have hated himself so much that he went through surgery after surgery trying to fix himself?
We might not ever know what made Michael Jackson who he was. We might not ever know the true reason for the allegations made towards him. What we do know, is that Michael Jackson wrote songs about love, about changing the world, about looking at the things within and addressing them, so that we can do our part to make the world better. The ideals that Michael Jackson expressed in his song are so far above the allegations that he was charged with, that it seems impossible for the same actions to come from one individual. There is no doubt that Michael Jackson was a troubled man. But what we can see is that his troubles may have come from the outside in. “How much pain can one take,” as his brother so poignantly said during the service. “Maybe now, Michael, they will leave you alone.”
I think it’s time that we leave Michael Jackson alone. What are your thoughts? Please share how the Memorial Service affected you.

I too was touched by MJ's memorial. It's obvious that he was loved by his family and his fans all over the world. Human beings are complicated generally speaking so imagine such an iconic figure as MJ who touched so many with his music, and broke through barriers linking so many together in a good way. I'd like us to remember the good he brought into the world despite all the allegations. There is no question he was a troubled man with so many insecurities, but I believe he tried to bring a sense of balance into his life through his music and his financial support throughout the world. May he rest in peace.

BEAUTIFUL. Thank you everyone who did not want to do this, but did a stunning job. Thank you Paris darling, and our other two beautiful boys. I wish you 3 a wonderful life. I love you as much as I loved your father. Hugs from a fan in Canada.
I grew up with Michael Jackson's music. He was indeed an extraordinarily talented individual. Let us show Michael how much we adored him by extending to his children the respect of their privacy that Michael so strived to protect during his lifetime. Let us leave these children alone to grow up with a certain degree of normalcy. They are alreay starting out life in the public eye being the children of Michael Jackson. It is obvious that Michael Jackson loved this three children and wanted what was best for them. Let us bear this in mind. May Michael rest in peace and through the love and compassion of the Lord Jesus Christ his family will surely find peace.
