As Cincinnati ramps up for the Valentine’s Day festivities, people all over the tri-state area will be planning elaborate dates or gifts or both for their loved ones. When it comes to showing love in Cincinnati, nothing brings it out of the residents of the greater Cincinnati area like the February 14th holiday.
In Ephesians 2:4-7, Paul states “God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved – and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” God has set the standard of love and its willingness to give, even when it hurts. Like the Ephesians, Christians today need to be reminded of God’s love for humanity in order that they share the same love with others.
For Cincinnati Christians, this February 14th should be a reminder to lavish love on those around them. God showed his love to humanity for the purpose of redemption, and Christians in Cincinnati should remember that “we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Cor. 5:20). Therefore, Christians of Cincinnati: lavish love on those in need of it this Valentine’s Day in order to show the great love God has for them.
