Share if you think it is time to put God back in schools and end the violence

Imagine your precious son or daughter sitting in their classroom as their day gets underway, and the speaker comes on following pops that sound like firecrackers saying, "this is not a drill." That is exactly what happened in Oregon on Tuesday morning in yet another school shooting that left two children dead and hundreds traumatized.

According to the Troutdale Police Department's Chief, Scott Anderson, "he could not confirm how the shooter died, but the student killed was 14-year-old Emilio Hoffman."

Today would have been his last day of school.

Many people are saying that God was thrown out of schools paving the way for all of the mass evil taking place in them today. School shootings, bullying, murder and rape are all things we are growing more and more accustomed to hearing about in our nations schools, and sending your children off daily can be terrifying now.

The airports have stricter safety standards than our schools. It is time to get serious about safety, and make our voices heard on gun laws. According to the NRA nothing will change until "public opinion demands it."

It would also make sense to remove some of the violence our children are taking in on online, through games and on tv, and put God back in their lives.

President Obama said "The country has to do some soul searching about this. This is becoming the norm, and we take it for granted, in ways that as a parent are terrifying to me." He went on to say that, "my biggest frustration so far is the fact that this society has not been willing to take some basic steps to keep guns out of the hands of people who can do just unbelievable damage, and No developed nation on earth would put up with mass shootings that happen now once a week and disappear from the news within a day, Obama said -- no nation except America." "We should be ashamed of that," Obama said, hours after yet another deadly school shooting, this time in Oregon. "There's no place else like this, stated Obama"

It is the truth.

This is the 74th school shooting incident since Sandy Hook, and it is getting more and more frequent. It is only a matter of time that the mindset will have to be moved from "what if it were my child's school" to "when will it be my child's school?" It is so much the norm that there are drills for this type of situation in many places, and a lot of schools have invested in bullet proof blankets. Still, is that enough? Why do courthouses and airports have better security than our schools, and why is God still being kept away?

"As a father myself I just -- I couldn't understand the pain he must be going through and just the primal scream that one child's father gave out," Obama said. "Why? Why aren't we doing something about this?"

As a writer I am not sure if putting God back in schools would help this lost generation, but I am sure it wouldn't hurt any. I do know that unless we stand up for better security and stricter gun laws nothing at all will change, and the National Rifle Association said that themselves, saying that, "nothing will change until public opinion demands it."

There is no time to waste anymore. The nations children are being slaughtered, and it is time to go back to the days where we all stood together as "one nation, UNDER GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." It is time to protect our children more than we protect our airplanes and courthouses, and make the nations voices become one.
