Former Broncos tight end and current CBS studio analyst Shannon Sharpe has chosen his brother Sterling to present him for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 6.
Sterling Sharpe was on his way to a Hall of Fame career himself when a neck injury ended his playing days in 1994. Sterling now works for NFL Network.
Shannon Sharpe has already said a good portion of his 12-minute speech will focus on his grandmother, Mary Porter, who passed away last week at the age of 89. Porter had raised Shannon and Sterling as well as their sister from the time when Shannon was three months old.
Porter had been in poor health for the past few years. This was the reason Shannon Sharpe had said that if he was to be elected to the Hall of Fame, it would come soon. He was elected in his third year of eligibility.
