Shannon Price plans to contest a 1999 will of Gary Coleman, her ex-husband and claim his estate, according to her spokeswoman; this comes after news that Price had a part in selling death photos of Coleman to a tabloid.
Shannon Price and Gary Coleman married in 2007, divorced in 2008, and according to Price the couple planned to re-marry. Price plans to contest a will that was created before he met Price.
The 1999 will states that Coleman’s remaining assets will go his former friend and manager, Dion Mial.
Monday, Shielia Erickson the spokeswoman for Price (and Gary Coleman's Utah manager) said that Price plans to "absolutely" fight the will.
"She doesn't want everything to go to Dion," Erickson said. "We have a retained a high-profile attorney. We have enough documentation that shows that everything will go to Shannon."
Mial hired Salt Lake City attorney Kent B. Alderman to submit the will for probate in Utah, and that paperwork will be filed Tuesday, June 8. The paperwork also includes an amendment to the will that Coleman wrote in 2007 after he married Price. In it he states that all remaining assets go to Price. But Alderman stated that the amendment is void because the couple divorced after it was drafted.
The funeral for Coleman has been delayed because many people have claimed rights to where he should be buried.
"But if we have our way, we would like to have a small funeral," said Erickson. "We would like to pay tribute to the greatest kid actor of all time."
