"Yep," Knapp replied, when asked by Long Island MMA Examiner Eric Holden if the promotion's upcoming event would be held before the inevitable zombie attack.
Knapp has not yet revealed an exact date for Invicta FC 7. However, she confirmed that the entire month of October has been ruled out for the upcoming event.
"We haven’t made any announcements yet," Knapp told MMA Explosion earlier this month. "We had a few dates in Nov, but those dates were taken by larger promotions. I am working on an alternate date, but haven’t been able to confirm all logistics yet for that date. We should make an announcement soon."
Some in the MMA community has speculated that Nov. 23 will be the date for Invicta FC 7, being that no UFC or Bellator events will be held that day.
Invicta FC officials are set on having a day all to their own, as it would allow for the promotion to receive extra media coverage if they don't have to go head-to-head with larger MMA promotions.
So as of now, all we know for sure is that Invicta FC 7 will not be in October, and will happen prior to the zombie apocalypse.
If zombies do happen to attack prior to Invicta FC 7, Invicta FC star Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc is well-prepared to do battle.
"Mhm for sure," Rivera-Calanoc told Alchemist Radio, when asked if she was prepared for the zombie attack. "I don't think I'd have a battle shed. I think we'd have a plan, you know, I think with zombies you can't stay in one spot because then they'll all congregate. You don't want to get too many of them at once. That's how they beat you. They overwhelm you by numbers so you kind of have to keep on the road. You have to have a battle truck and have tons of guns and ammo."
"The Night Queen" admits her aim is a bit off, so she would likely kill the zombies with some kind of sword or slicing device.
"I'm not very good at shooting guns," Rivera-Calanoc said. "I'm really good with a machete though."
Rivera-Calanoc may or may not be featured on Invicta FC 7, but the card is expected to feature at least two title fights and possibly a third.
In the days and weeks ahead, hopefully talks will turn back to MMA fighting instead of zombie invasions.
