It appears that Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino was ready to start his rehab assignment in Portland on Tuesdsay, but Mother Nature had her own ideas. The Portland Sea Dogs game against the Binghamton Mets was postponed because of rain. Victorino will likely make his 2014 debut on Wednesday against Binghamton.
The Red Sox have missed Victorino at the top of their lineup, especially since Jacoby Ellsbury is no longer in town and now that Dustin Pedroia is dealing with some kind of wrist injury. If all goes as planned he could return to the big club as soon as this weekend.
Last season Victorino smacked 15 home runs in just 477 at bats. He also kept pitchers on there toes when he was on the bases with 21 stolen bases.
The Red Sox have stumbled out of the gate to a 5-8 start and last place in the American League East. It isn't quite time to panic for Red Sox fans, since the team hasn't had it's regular lineup in any game so far this season, but if things don't change soon this season likely won't have the same ending as last season.
