Marianne Jervis, better known to some as Songwriting Shane, was a first responder when the 9/11 attacks occurred in 2001. Through her tireless efforts to help those at ground zero, she was exposed to toxins that damaged her voice. After several surgeries and a great deal of perseverance, Shane has managed to recover her singing ability and to put together a heartfelt song and video about those who were lost on 9/11.
The video was filmed in upstate New York by Big Thunder Productions and directed by James Terriaca. The video starts with a father saying goodbye to his family on his way to work. Due to the tragic attack in New York City, he never comes home. Throughout the video, his ghost appears in his wife's memories as she sings about never having had a chance to say goodbye.
Though said, through it all Shane reaffirms her faith and belief in a higher power. The beautiful scenery with waterfalls, forests and open fields accentuates the message of the song. The song stands as a tribute to those who were lost and to the power of faith for those left behind who need to find the strength to move on.
