One of Sacramento's most popular running events, the Shamrock'n Half Marathon, and 2-Person Relay teams sold out early this year capping the number of participants to 5600. The race website says there is no waiting list available.
One of the reasons the Shamrock'n Half Marathon is so popular is because it is the first Sacramento half marathon offered in the calendar year. That makes the race a perfect training run for a spring or summer marathon. Another popular feature of the race is the finish line at Raley Field.
If you missed out on the Shamrock'n Half Marathon, you might want to try one of the following races:
Emerald Across the Bay 12K - on Sunday, March 21, 2010 this race course travels across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Oakland Running Festival - on Sunday, March 28, 2010 this inaugural race features a full and half marathon, 4-person relay and 5k races.
You can share a ride with other local runners to these races. The Running Adventures Travel Club "RAT Pack Runners", has organized ride sharing options for runners from the Sacramento area for $35/person.
Save on carpooling and travel costs to out-of-town races with the RAT Pack Runners
