Shamrock and roll: Westchester’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities, March 22-23

Although March 17 has come and gone, there is still one more weekend of St. Patrick’s Day parades in Westchester County.

The Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off at 1:00 on Saturday, March 22, on McLean Avenue near Bronx River Road and finishes at Coyne Park on McLean Avenue. This neighborhood has some of the best Irish pubs in New York, so the St. Pat’s celebration is not to be missed! If you are looking to kick up your heels and hear some jigs and reels, there will be plenty of live music. At Rory Dolans, Erin Og will perform at 2:00, followed by the Narrowbacks. After the parade, Jameson’s Revenge and Shilelagh Law will be playing at Rambling House. At Durty Nelly’s, Peter McKiernan (also known as “Mr. Catskills”) will start at 4:00.

The Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place in Mamaroneck on Sunday, March 23, and represents the communities of Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Rye, Port Chester, New Rochelle, and Harrison. The parade kicks off at 1:30 on Mamaroneck Avenue between the Metro-North train station and I-95, and it concludes at Harbor Island Park. The place to be is definitely Molly Spillane’s, which will open for brunch at 9:00 and will feature bagpipers and live Irish entertainment throughout the day.

One thing is for sure, there will be plenty of places to grab a pint of Guinness and keep the St. Patrick’s Day festivities going!
