Showtime series "House of Lies" and the Chicago-based dramedy "Shameless" each bounced back in the ratings on Sunday, January 29 after facing stiff competition last week.
According to Deadline, "Shameless" was up 7% to 1.37 million viewers compared to last week's episode when it faced the NFC Championship Game.
The series even managed to top the series premiere of David Milch's "Luck" on HBO. It attracted just 1.1 million viewers, though the pilot was previously broadcast in December after the season finale of "Boardwalk Empire." The horse racing drama has already been renewed by the cable network for a second season.
New comedy "House of Lies" rose a whopping 41% to 1.02 million viewers, its highest numbers since the premiere. It was followed by "Californication," up 17% to 748,000 total viewers.
Elsewhere on Sunday night, "Kourtney and Kim Take New York" also improved without the NFL competition. The E! reality show's season finale drew 4.5 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49, according to ratings data released by TV by the Numbers. That was enough to lead the night among the cable networks in the coveted adult demo.
Meanwhile, Bravo's "Real Housewives of Atlanta" reached a Season 4 high of 3.95 million viewers, the second-most-watched episode ever for the reality franchise behind last season's "Atlanta" finale. Companion series "Watch What Happens Live" also hit a season high of 1.6 million viewers.
