After a great finish by Venus Raj last year, Shamcey Supsup kept the successful streak alive by placing third in the 2011 Miss Universe held in Brazil. Sure, Shamcey didn't win the prestigious pageant, but placing third is nothing to scoff at when other countries have yet to crack the top five.
What makes her performance even more impressive is that she mostly flew under the radar, but was able to outshine many favorites such as Miss Greece, Miss USA and Miss Venezuela. In addition, she was able to surpass all expectations even with enormous pressure for her to match or surpass her predecessors great performance last year.
So, even though she didn't take home the crown, Shamcey should go home with her head held high. In fact, not only did she leave a positive impact on the judges, but on the viewers as well. Actually, there was even an unverified report that Oprah Winfrey in an interview with NBC mentioned that Shamcey should have won if the final results was strictly based on the Q&A portion.
