A couple of months ago I wrote about a ceremony I was planning for the Houston Shamanism Meetup group. The goal was to align ourselves with the flow of energy of the Universe. I had a sort of wordless notion of beauty equals truth equals universal love.

Well, we did it. I do not know if it affected the world around us, but those of us who participated in the ceremony experienced a profound energy shift. Lisa, who sat in the East (facing the West, the place of dreams and visions), received a profound vision that expressed the energy we were seeking.

Words can never fully convey spiritual experiences, but when you hear people with visionary abilities describe similar visions over years and in different circumstances, you start to get a feel for what they are describing. If you have experienced something similar, you can recognize it from their words.

The rest of us did not see her amazing vision, but we shared in the energy. Mario was healed of shoulder pain that had been bothering him for weeks or months. Before the ceremony, it hurt. Afterward it did not. As simple as that.

So, even if I did not promise to report back to you, and even though it has been awhile, I thought you might want to know.

To me, the lesson from this story is this: When you get a vision, a calling, no matter how hard it is to explain to others, act on it. Doing so can enrich their experience as well as yours. Pay attention to that still, small voice that speaks in your mind and heart.

And trust your friends when they have crazy visions, crazy notions of a ceremony you could do together. Enact their dream in all sincerity, and you may be immeasurably rewarded. Or not. But either way, you will have an experience worth having, worth learning from.

And sometimes, you will have an experience like we had, which makes it all worthwhile.
