A Shaler Township, Pennsylvania woman waited on the porch of her ex-boyfriend’s home, and as he was leaving for work, shot him multiple times before turning the gun on herself. This shooting / suicide left two families grieving and the small Pa. community stunned.
The incident occurred early morning Friday in the 500 block of Louann Avenue. The shooter, identified as 43-year-old Sharon DeMore, patiently waited in a chair on the front porch for her estranged boyfriend, idenfitied at this point only as “Kenny,” to walk outside. When he did, he was shot at least three times. DeMore then killed herself with a single shot to the head.
“What it appears, she was waiting for him on a porch outside and he came out the door. He was shot a few times. He’s in critical condition at a local hospital. She is deceased with a single gunshot wound to the head,” said James Morton, Assistant Superintendent of the Allegheny County Police.
According to Pennsylvania’s TribLibe.com, DeMore was described by her aunt, 62-year-old Beverly Pfab, as a “loving mother of four children who was going through a difficult time.”
Neighbor Shirley Morell heard the gunshots Friday at approximately 6:30 a.m. and called 911.
“I’m in shock, as well. I just can’t believe that this all happened,” Morell said.
Authorities reported that they had been called to the multiple unit home before for domestic incidents between Shaler and her on-again, off-again boyfriend. First floor tenet Shelly Leidecker called Kenny a “good man” and said he and DeMore had been dating for about four years.
“He's a good man,” she said. “We're just praying for his recovery.”
TribLive reported that DeMore was divorced in 2012, so it appears that her relationship with her boyfriend overlapped that timeframe.
“She was just having a lot of hardships since her divorce. She just got very sad,” DeMore's aunt said.
