First-time mom Shakira and father of her baby, 26-year-old Gerard Pique, publicly shared a photo of their new son Milan Pique Mebarak via their UNICEF website, reported Us Weekly on Feb. 4.
To celebrate the birth of Milan, UNICEF is accepting donations of anywhere between $5 and $110. The new parents hope that with the donations, less privileged children in the world can have their basic needs met. They say in a statement, "Thank you for sharing this unforgettable moment with us."
Colombian singer, songwriter and "The Voice" mentor, 35-year-old Shakira, has been dating Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique since March 2011, and Shakira announced her pregnancy on Facebook in September 2012.
The couple's first child was born in Barcelona, Spain on Jan. 22 and they chose the name Milan because of its several meanings. In Slavic, Milan means dear, loving and gracious and eager and laborious in Ancient Roman. The name also means unification in Sanskrit, the stars explained in a statement.
Shakira confirmed in a previous interview with Us Weekly that she definitely wants more children, stating that their baby boy will have a sibling to play and grow up with. During the interview, a source close to Shakira and Gerard revealed that Shakira is looking forward to motherhood, and the couple definitely want more than one child together.
