Shakira's Dora the Explorer book benefits charity

Shakira recently wrote a Dora the Explorer book called “World School Day Adventure”. While the “special art style” of illustrators Kellee Riley and Kuni Tomita is quite attractive, the list price is $19.99 Canadian. On Amazon, it's just $11.50.

Apparently Shakira's non-profit educational organization, Pies Descalzos Foundation, gets a percentage of the singer's royalties. But unlike the 10 cents from every Happy Meal that goes to Ronald McDonald Houses across the continent, the per copy benefit of this book isn't disclosed.

Says Shakira: “the children from all over the world to know that through knowledge and education, one can embark on great adventures. Dora is an inspiration for all children in the world. It was an honor working with Nickelodeon to write this story as education is a cause very close to my heart.”

Whatever the case, blogger Perez Hilton filed this book under “Inspiration” this morning.

One YouTube user has uploaded a dramatic reading of the picture book.
