Shakira publicly thanks brother who saved her from a sea lion attack

Shakira is thankful that she is well after an encounter with a sea lion on vacation. In Cape Town, South Africa the entertainer found herself face to face with a sea lion after the animal thought her Blackberry phone looks like a fish. Almost biting her, the entertainer was saved by her brother. Publicly thanking her brother on Monday it appears he saved her from being attacked.

Admitting she was closer than anyone to the sea lions she pulled out her phone to take a photo. That’s when one of the animals startled her by coming at her unexpectantly and she froze in fear.

“Suddenly, one of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me. Everyone there screamed, including me,” wrote Shakira on Facebook. “I was paralyzed by fear and couldn't move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother ‘Super Tony’ jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast.”

The entertainer admitting that only a short time earlier she was complaining to her guide that she hadn’t seen any animals up close and personal. Finding that the best view of wildlife might be a little way back, she was lucky the animal didn’t bite her.

According to Shakira, the next animal she was to see was penguins, which arguably are usually not as mean as sea lions.
